World Mental Health Day Message From KarenaBy Karena Dawn on
On #WorldMentalHealthDay and every day, I am committed to advocate for mental health awareness, open the conversation around the illness, and provide resources. As you know, mental health has had it’s impact on my family. I watched my mother struggle for years and I want you to know that suffering in silence is not the answer. It’s OK to not be OK. 1 in 5 Americans will experience a mental illness in any given year (CDC.gov). You are not alone. You are never alone. Call. Reach out. Visit someone that may need a little extra love this week and always.
The mission of my new foundation, The Big Silence, is to normalize conversations about mental health, share empathy and understanding, and give tools and resources for those struggling with or impacted by a mental health condition. The Big Silence is also the title of my memoir & upcoming podcast. I am honored to continue to break the silence. Please join us at TheBigSilence.com and @the.big.silence
