World Mental Health Day Message From Karena
By Karena Dawn onOn #WorldMentalHealthDay and every day, I am committed to advocate for mental health awareness, open the conversation around the illness, and provide resources. As you know, mental health has had it’s impact on my family. I watched my mother struggle for years and I want you to know that suffering in silence is not the answer. It’s OK to not be OK. 1 in 5 Americans will experience a mental illness in any given year (CDC.gov). You are not alone. You are never alone. Call. Reach out. Visit someone that may need a little extra love this week and always.
The mission of my new foundation, The Big Silence, is to normalize conversations about mental health, share empathy and understanding, and give tools and resources for those struggling with or impacted by a mental health condition. The Big Silence is also the title of my memoir & upcoming podcast. I am honored to continue to break the silence. Please join us at TheBigSilence.com and @the.big.silence

Oct 15 21Karena,
I can’t express to you how much having you speak about the importance of mental health means to me. I suffer from anxiety and in the past, depression and negative body image disorders. I was in a dark place for a very long time, and finding Tone It Up helped to bring me back to the light. I suffered in silence and still have days where I just try and sit in silence and come to terms with the things that I am thinking and feeling. I couldn’t ask for a better human being to look to, than you! Thank you for this!
