How To Refresh After Thanksgiving

Hey babe! We hope you had a beautiful, restful Thanksgiving filled with love, gratitude, and delicious food 🤗

Every year around the holidays, we hear a lot of questions about how to “bounce back” and feel your best after a big holiday meal, lots of desserts, and of course wine! First thing’s first...we don’t want you to feel guilty AT ALL! The TIU lifestyle is all about balance, and the holidays are a time to enjoy yourself and savor every bite of all your favorite dishes. 

You deserve to treat yourself, and your Tone It Up Nutrition Program is always here for you after the holiday when you need a little reset to feel amazing! 

Here are some of our top tips to detox your body post-holiday and feel lean, light, energized, and refreshed!

Lemon water


Start your morning with a cup of hot lemon water. Add a spoonful of apple cider vinegar and a splash of cayenne for a kick! This will help your digestion and get your alkalinity balanced.

Get back to that Lean, Clean, ‘N Green life


This is the perfect time to recommit to your TIU Nutrition Plan Guidelines. (You can find the guidelines and nutrition advice in your TIU app.) Nourish your body with lean protein, healthy fats, and lots of veggies to promote detoxification. Leafy greens, green tea, and turmeric help support the liver to remove toxins from your body. Smoothies and soups are also an amazing way to get nutrients and give your digestive system a lil’ break. 

Hydrate


Staying hydrated is always important, but especially when you’re looking to detox. The lymphatic system, which is responsible for removing toxins, depends on hydration to run at its best. You should be aiming for half your bodyweight in ounces of water per day, and in the days after Thanksgiving, up that even more!

Get in a toning sesh


Your muscles are full of energy (aka glycogen from Thanksgiving din) and you’re ready to GO! You’ll be surprised by how strong you’ll feel during a workout! Plus, we detox through our pores in sweat. Pick one of your favorite routines in the app and get after it 💪  If you’re with family, invite them to join, too!

Refuel with protein


Having protein within 30 minutes of your toning sesh will boost your metabolism and help you form gorgeous lean muscle. This will make the most of the energy you have stored in your muscles. 

Walk it out


Ask someone in your fam to join you for a long walk this weekend 👯 Or maybe a hike or bike ride. Any type of cardio will help you feel energized, light, and refreshed. You can also check out the new cardio sections in your app like running and indoor cycling to sweat it out!
