6 Simple Ways To Cut Sugar Cravings

You know we’re all about balance and love a good treat (I mean...have you seen these holiday breakfasts?!). Still, you want to make sure you’re mostly steering clear of processed and artificial sugars because that will only lead to more sugar cravings. 

Cutting down on sugar is like any healthy habit — once you commit and do it for a week or two, your cravings will lessen and it will start to feel second nature! How sweet is that?!

To get you there, we’re sharing six simple tips to help you reduce sugar cravings. 

Keep it Lean, Clean, ‘N Green

Replace sugary foods with clean, whole, unprocessed options like leafy greens and healthy fats. When you nourish your body this way, you’ll feel more satisfied and avoid the blood sugar spikes and crashes that lead to more cravings. 

Up your protein 

Is there anything protein can’t do?! Protein-rich foods (think: lean meats, beans, eggs, legumes, and of course Tone It Up Protein) provide a balanced, steady source of energy, so you’ll feel satisfied and energized and less likely to reach for sweets. 

Start your day with lemon water

Sour foods like lemon can help counteract sugar cravings. For an extra perk: Add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. ACV contains acetic acid, which can help regulate blood sugar and insulin levels, reducing sugar cravings. 

Get plenty of sleep 

Research shows that women who got more sleep consumed less sugar the next day. When we don’t get enough sleep, our hormones become off balance and can actually signal that we’re hungry or craving sugar.
