Pilates is a low-impact workout that brings a big focus to your entire core (yes, your abs but also your back and around your hips). Each move targets those midsection muscles, so you’ll feel each one at your center, but you’ll also work the rest of your body (the practice doesn’t focus on only one body part!). Pilates is also grounded in improving posture, moving with intention and mind-body awareness, as well as executing each exercise with control. You’ll move through full ranges of motion, as well as do pulses and isometric holds to target your muscles to the max. Get ready to feel the burn, build strength and stability, and increase your flexibility and mobility too! It’s all about getting centered.
Any fitness level! These workouts are welcome to anyone and everyone. Your TIU trainer, Amber Flowers, a certified Pilates instructor, leads you through the low-impact moves and offers modifications for those who need them. She’ll also offer some ways to progress the exercises. If you’re brand new to Pilates, check out Pilates Basics as your first workout and you’ll have the perfect introduction to the practice.
